Impressive

The writing style of this book really stood out to me over the other books that I have read this year. It's evident to me that the author is really talented due to the smooth, flawless scenes and character dialogue plus there were many twists and turns that I never saw coming at all, which gives the story a sort of suspenseful feel to it in some chapters. I really enjoyed the uniqueness of the story itself, I think that it's a really smart twist on the dystopian/apocalyptic genre - definitely different than most that I have came across. This was the reason why I picked up the book, after reading the description - I thought that the idea was smart but the way that it was executed throughout the story was even more impressive in my opinion.

Another factor that stood out to me about this book is the originality regarding the characters, they all fit together really well and have some dynamic interactions and relationships with each other, plus there's a plenty of humour throughout the book that added an extra bonus of keeping it entertaining for me.

In summary, I really enjoyed the story, it is clever and written really well and honestly much better than I had anticipated. I will definitely be looking out for future books by the author

Thoroughly Engaging

2010 - present

I have to say that this book immediately caught my attention... I'm a big fan of apocalyptic scenarios and coming of age heroic tales, so "Bounty Hunter" was right up my alley The book was well-written, thoroughly engaging, had fully formed and relatable characters, and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

"Bounty Hunter" is about a young teen boy named Kai who is living in a post-apocalyptic world where years ago witches brought about a new world where magic, demons and the supernatural were common place, and dangerous to humans. Witches are feared and hated for their part in the new world order and Kai is sadly one of them. On the run with no haven and no one to help him to speak of, he allies with a group of bounty hunters in a bid to survive. What follows is a strange, but captivating journey as Kai learns about himself, about his witch heritage and about his world that he never imagined... and finds himself at the center of a far reaching plot that threatens his very life.

Overall, this book had a wonderful charming quality to it that melded perfectly in a blending of action/adventure, coming of age, fantasy, humor and drama. Using a smooth writing style and vivid imagery, the author brings to life the world that Kai lives in and journey that he embarks on.

Loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really loved this book. It's fast and funny and, oh my god, the twists! I adored Kai and Cassius and their "I kinda hate you" friendship. Laon was brilliant and sort of hot! Sam was my favourite, though. I love strong female characters. Loved the magilectricity and the Masteries.

I waited ages to read this book, but I don't think I can wait for the next one.

Bounty Hunter Packs A Punch!

OOF! From the moment I read the novel description I could tell that this was going to be one heck of a dramatic ride and oh it was, and it was fantastic! S J Hollis' `Bounty Hunter' is an apocalyptic fantasy story that nestles comfortably amongst the likes of Percy Jackson, and it certainly packs a plot-twisting adventure for the keen reader.

The protagonist Kai Koson is both extra-ordinarily unique yet at the same time so normal that you can relate to the way he reacts to the world around him with a fondness. The other characters are just as wonderful and span across a variety of gender, species and personality, which really brings a smorgasbord of colour to the story. Not just this, but the way Hollis sets the scene is in depth and utterly fantastic; the first line of the whole book had me shuddering and recoiling slightly - quite an impact for a single sentence.

Bounty Hunter is completely indulgent and grips you from the start to the very very end and leaves you wanting to read the next installment in the series right away (if only it was written already). There is a constant ebb and flow of punchy action, mysterious secrets and a plot so intriguing that you'll just want to keep reading. I also personally loved that all the chapters were on the short side as it makes it so much easier to read on the go!

Overall Bounty Hunter will find its fanbase amongst those who loved reading `Alex Rider' and the likes. I feel that it particularly appeals to young adult boys, but bear in mind that I say this as a 22 year old woman who really enjoyed what she read in Hollis`s novel and so I urge you, if you're a fan of dramatic fantasy, to buy this little corker and give it a go.

A must read

I really liked this book, I could tell the it was targeted at young adults but had themes that would appeal to any age. The bounty hunter allows you to escape reality and enter a world completely different from our own yet with similarities and themes that you will really relate to. For anyone that is a Harry potter fan this book is a must read.
The character descriptions are very realistic and I found myself being drawn into Kai's world, with many twists ad turns the bounty hunter will leave you wanting more

Out of this world!

Bookworms of all ages will appreciate this action-packed story wholeheartedly. Fans of The Lightning Thief, and Harry Potter will enjoy this unique storyline with a dark undertone. It contains witches, magic, and a little, bitty thing that you may have heard of known as the apocalypse. Kai Koson, our hero, is a strong character who seems to develop at his own pace, just like any other 14 year old would. He's a fighter, with unwavering determination, and teens will find him to be a suitable role model. Wonderfully imaginative, with a little humor to soften the blow, Hollis' book will be embraced by many.
